Jack's talking and I'm bathing... Some things never change.

So Jack and I went to my hometown for a weekend visit. I'll fill you in on more reasons for our visit later. It was fun. Anyway - I'm from this really cool small town in far West Texas, known as the Big Bend Region. Also known as the center of the earth or God's Country, whichever you prefer.

Here is what it looks like:

And south of town is the majestic Big Bend; it looks like this:

How lucky am I to be from the two most beautiful places on earth? The Texas Hill Country and the Big Bend.

So it's Saturday morning and Jack tells me he's going to run to the saddle shop. He always makes a point to go by there when in town. I thought about going with him, but decided I had something better to do. Off he went as he said he would be back in about 30 minutes.

Two hours later he showed back up. Why had he been gone so long?

He ran into this guy and shot the bull for over an hour! Yes - Lyle Lovett! He just happened to be in town. Why? Because you just never know who you will run into in the center of the earth.

Lyle Lovett is my guy. I'm the one that loves him and listens to him almost every day. His song, "Cowboy Man" was the theme song at our rehearsal dinner. I love him.

So where was I while Jack was shooting the bull with my man, Lyle Lovett?

I was soaking in the bathtub.

Story of my life.......

I'm so crushin'! Lyle is my all-time favorite! I know every word to every one of his songs. He reminds me of home- growing up outside of Houston.

Awww, that's just not fair at all. I'll bet Lyle would have preferred to talk to you too.
By the way Sugar, all of Texas is "God's Country!" : )

Heeheeheeeeeeeeeee! Sorry you mised your chance with Lyle (Blech) but at least you were clean and relaxed when hubby got home with his stories, right? Until you probably freaked out over not being there.

I'm never at the right place at the right time!

How cool is that? I really like Lyle's music, too. And you're right, West Texas is beautiful. But so is East Texas, North Texas, South Texas. Just like Mrs. B said, "all of Texas is God's Country!" Our state is just so huge we have many different landscapes! I wouldn't live anywhere else but Texas! Have a good one- Vickie

Cleanliness is next to godliness, and your hubby was next to Lyle. Next time, maybe you should soak him in a tub and go to the saddle shop for him.

ok remember when Julia Roberts married him and the press went wild, with all their princess and ugly duckling references?

I was so mad, because I, for one, have the good sense to spot an interesting, smoking hot man when I see one. And I could totally see what she saw in him, but she didn't have the good sense to hold on to him for whatever reason...

And then, someone I know revealed the other day that their daughter thinks Seguin -- SEGUIN -- is the center of the universe.

I secretly thought to myself: "oh my gosh, that's ridiculous. Don't they realize where the real, and true, center of the universe really is?"

This lovely young lady is transferring to Tech in the fall, so my hope is she will realize she just needs to move a little west to find it. The Big Bend Region (Alpine, Marathon, Lajitas, Study Butte, Terlingua, and okay, Marfa and Valentine too!) is the correct answer! :)

I wonder if Lyle looks like someone in the dark?

Lyle Lovett is my favorite. What did he and Jack talk about? I have a Lyle story. His parents worked at the same company that I do. The shoe shine guy in our building introduced them. I've been told Lyle has a picture of Joe the shoe shine guy in one of his videos and refers to Joe as 'the man that started it all'. I hope there is a next time and you get to see Lyle. BTW, do you sell your products at any local farmer's markets?

Awww...Gotta love some Lyle...he's just so...oh I don't know...smooth...that's kind of how I think of him...cool and smooth with a touch of sexy to top it off. That's z'awls I'm sayin~gotta love me some LYLE!!

Your story reminds me of a story about me and Charlie Pride...I have ALWAYS; since I was a little girl loved Charlie Pride...I used to have a lot of his albums and listened to him a LOT. My hubbin had tickets to the Cotton Bowl several years in a row...he would always ask me & our daughter if we wanted to tag along with he and our son...we would always decline, we'd tell them to take their guy friends, instead...b/c well...we just had better things to do than sit in the freezing cold and watch football!! Along with these tickets were passes to go to the "breakfast" for the players, coaches and some local celebs BEFORE the big game. Well...you guessed it...one year...Charlie Pride was there...he sat at the SAME table as my husband and son...they not only were able to chat it up with him...they ate breakfast w/him, too. When my son got home...he couldn't wait to rub that in...and he stills brings it up to this day! The worst part...they didn't EVEN get a picture...AND I'm quite sure neither one of them ever even thought about mentioning to Mr. Pride...just how much I loved him and his music...ugh!!

Loved your story...but hey, you DO have a great tub...so that did make staying home all the more enticing!

Blessings...
Teresa

Crazy!! Hey we were just in "God's Country" two weekends ago for Mac's HS Reunion. We couldn't go to Ft. Davis because of a couple of "ex's", isn't that SO high school? :) Anyway...Mac showed me the Ward TruValue Hardware and Ward Plaza!! WAY COOL Lady! I even got a pic of the Welcome to Alpine sign. I'll have to email it to you, it's pretty awesome. Love you.

How crazy is that? I love Lyle too and it would be my luck to miss him like you did, ha! At least we know he as good taste in knowing where God's country REALLY is...other than here in the Hill Country, I mean..ssshhh....

Okay, okay.... I admit it. There are a lot of great places in Texas AND a lot of great places in other states, too. I was born and raised in Texas and now live here again, but all the other states I've lived in were pretty great, too!

I still love to go to California ever chance I get, and Arkansas still gives me that 'back home' feeling. So see... I like lots of places! As I'm typing this comment I'm overlooking Tampa Bay and it's quite lovely as well.

Thanks everyone for your comments and for visiting me!
