Look ya'll! Two awards!

During my little absence I have been honored with 2 wonderful awards:

The Polka Dotted Owl over at The Magic Risotto Diaries awarded this to me. This is what is said about this fine award:

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to three bloggers who must choose three more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

Thank you, Polka Dotted Owl Girl! I love her because she keeps me young and has great music on her blog that takes me back to my hey day... She always has some kind of great 80's stuff playing.

And for the record, I had to look up the defintion of "self-aggrandizement" to be sure that I'm not that.... Is that a college word or what? The definition of self-aggrandizement is 'the act or practice of enhancing or exaggerating one's own importance, power, or reputation. I'm glad to know I'm not that. I mean, I can't be that since I was given this award and everything....

This is how behind I am in blogging ya'll. Not only was Polka Dotted Owl girl so sweet to honor me with this award, but she also honored me with one more:

The Honest Scrap Award, which was also given to me by Paige at Paige's Petals. Thanks, girls! I really enjoy both of your blogs and am honored that you thought about me! Okay, with the Honest Scrap Award comes some rules:

First, choose a minimum of seven blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Secondly, show the seven winners' names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Scrap". Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. Lastly, list at least ten honest things about yourself.

BecauseI have difficulty following the rules, I'm awarding four and combining the two awards together (I'm actually only doing 4 awards because a lot of you have already been awarded):

1. Painted Groove
2. The Pampered World
3. Silver*Moon*Studio
4. Am I Crazy, Really?

Ten Honest Things About Me:

  1. I'm a bather, not a shower-er (does this make sense ya'll?)

  2. I wore braces when I was 36 year old. I now know why braces were meant for 12-year-olds...

  3. I'm quite competitive when it comes to business. Go figure. Although I love being home and lounging about the farm, I will always be involved in running or owning my own business. It just gets my juices flowing for some reason....

  4. I'm eerily claustrophobic.

  5. I hate going to the grocery store.

  6. I consider myself open-minded.

  7. I would rather have one really nice thing than a bunch of trendy/fun things (clothes, jewelry, art, furniture, etc.)

  8. I'm a procrastinator. Give me a deadline and I REALLY procrastinate.

  9. I don't like to read directions. This drives Jack crazy, so he's the direction reader in the family. If I can't figure it out on my own, it must be broken or wrong....

  10. I have feet issues: (a). I don't want anybody's feet touching my feet. Please keep your feet to yourself. I don't want to see them or touch them. (b). I never walk around in bare feet, even in my own house. Walking around in bare feet could easily take me over the edge. (c). The last thing I do every night is put lotion on my feet. My feet can't go under the covers until they're all lotioned up. I sit on the edge of the bed, with my feet never touching the floor, and lotion up... (with Hummingbird No. 145 of course!) Ooops! Was that self-aggrandizement???

So see ya’ll… Not only do I have a ghost, but I’m neurotic to boot! I'm just weird. I might even be a passive aggrandizer...

I Wanna Be A Cowboy...

Hi! My name is Big and I'm a cowboy. Some people might think I'm a Standard Poodle, but I'm not.

I'm a cowboy. I don't like to take baths, get groomed, or wear collars and leashes.

When I was little my mom wanted to dress me up and put me on a leash and take me around town. That's for poodles, not cowboys.

I like the open range, chasing cows, and herding cats. That's what I do. I'm a cowboy.

Bulls & Ghosts - They both go bump in the night...

Check out this big bull! He's huge....

He decided to visit Hummingbird Farms, un-invited, and attempt to court my girls.... Can you believe it? What a bully! He must have been raised in a barn to just come right on over without an invitation. In my day, the boys would at least call first before bulldozing their way in.... You know, the decency of a booty-call.

And this is the damage he created to get over here. See the sign in the top right corner? It says 'no trespassing'. How rude! He didn't even read the sign! I guess we'll know next September if we have more Bob's.... We REALLY wanted more longhorns. But, what do you do? You just have to love all your grand baby's, whatever they might be....

Okay, let's change topics and talk about my ghost. I AM going to tell you the story. It is quite bizarre and believe me - if anyone else ever told me the story I'm going to tell you I would think they had had one too many Coors Lights. Or need to increase the dose of their anti-psychotic medication. But, this really happened. My delay in telling y'all the story right here in Blogland is because at one time my ghost was a real person that once lived here. She deserves her dignity. She also has living survivors... Before she entered into this new dimension, she was someone's mother, sister, and aunt. She has a name AND has a story to tell. For what ever reason, she chose me to tell it. I simply want to honor her and the family she has left behind....

So - as soon as I can reach the proper people for their blessing, I must refrain from gabbing.... And for those of you that know me, I have a very difficult time not gabbing. But - I will do it for her....

I’m too tired to sleep because I have insomnia. And a ghost…

I have no idea what has caused this current bout of insomnia. I generally sleep like a baby, but I do have an episode about once a year when I can’t sleep. Unfortunately, it’s that time of year. One of my problems that yields my inability to go to sleep is the darn ritual I have to go through in order to go to bed….

My friend Sami and I always talk about how we’re too tired to go to bed. Do you understand what we’re talking about? This whole week I was dead-dog tired; simply too tired to go to sleep. You see, by the time I drag my aching bones to bed I have to detour into the bathroom for the face washing ritual. For some reason, the older I get the longer this ritual is taking. I suppose it’s because every year I have to add another step or layer for my face….

Anyway, by the time I do all this, which includes 5 minutes of splashing water all over my face, I’m wide awake. So I lie in bed, wide awake AND exhausted, and stare… How is it possible to be wide awake, but exhausted???

I finally decided that perhaps my insomnia was due to the fact that my ghost was missing me and needed me in my old bedroom. YES – I said it y’all…. MY GHOST! I have this sweet little lady that lives in our old farmhouse. I really don’t like to refer to her as a ghost, but as a spirit. Many of y’all know that we’ve been involved in some construction for quite some time while adding on to the old farmhouse. We’ve moved into our newly constructed bedroom which is actually quite pleasant. My little ghost, however, doesn’t go into the new part of the house; she’s just not into change. So – because I was so tired of being tired, and had read everything there was to read on my bedside table, I grabbed my pillow and headed upstairs to my old bedroom and slept like a baby.

She was calling me home…

Oaky – so I’ve said it… I’ve admitted to having a ghost. She’s actually very friendly and has spoken to me. YES – I said that, too: SHE SPOKE TO ME. So now that you all think I’m nuts (and you could be right) I’m going to end here. I do have an interesting story about her… but, trying to put it on paper is all so very complicated. Also, out of respect to her family (which some are still living and I have met), I don’t want to say too much until they’ve given me their blessing. I will say this – she’s friendly and sweet and I’m not the least bit scared.

She gives me peace...

And she has rockin’ long brunette hair!

A Farmer & His Poodle...

There's nothing better than a confidant man with his poodle!

I know my feet are muddy, but can I please come in?????

Want to cat around?
